Question 1

What is permanent outdoor lighting?

Accepted Answer

Permanent outdoor lighting is a professionally installed LED system that mounts along your roofline, eaves, and architectural features. Unlike seasonal lights that go up and come down, permanent lights stay installed year-round and are controlled via a smartphone app. Change colors for holidays, everyday ambiance, or special occasions with a tap.

Question 2

How much does permanent outdoor lighting cost?

Accepted Answer

The average residential installation ranges from $2,500 to $8,000+, depending on your home's linear footage, complexity, spacing choice, and chosen system. Every home is different — request a free design consultation for an exact quote tailored to your property.

Question 3

Why would I pay more for tighter spacing?

Accepted Answer

You are buying more fixtures per foot, but the bigger difference is the visual density. Tighter spacing (6" or 8") generally creates more coverage and a blended wall wash, while wider spacing (12"+) creates distinct individual light cones. We can show you the difference on your actual home with a mockup before you choose.

Question 4

Another company quoted me a lower price. Why?

Accepted Answer

Let's make sure we're comparing the same thing — spacing, light output, white-light quality (RGB vs. RGBW), track style, warranty, and installation method all affect pricing. A lower price can be a great option if it still gives you the look you want. We'll show you exactly what the differences are.

Question 5

What's the difference between RGB and RGBW?

Accepted Answer

RGB systems mix red, green, and blue light to create colors, including white. RGBW and RGBWW systems add a dedicated white or warm-white diode, which produces a much more natural, architectural white light — especially noticeable for everyday use when you want a warm, inviting glow rather than a slightly blue-tinted white.

Question 6

I don't know which spacing I want. Is that normal?

Accepted Answer

Completely normal! Most homeowners don't know which spacing they prefer until they see it on their own home. Tell us whether you prefer individual cones or a fuller architectural wash, and we'll narrow it down to two options and show you a mockup. That's what our free design consultation is for.

Question 7

Why not just buy a DIY system?

Accepted Answer

DIY can be a good fit for some homeowners. The professional options generally add purpose-built mounting track, expert installation, service/warranty coverage, and different spacing and output choices. We can compare both approaches based on what matters to you — no pressure either way.

Question 8

Is installation really completed in one day?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Most residential installations are completed in a single day, typically 4–8 hours. Larger or more complex homes may take slightly longer. Our partner installers are experienced professionals who work efficiently without cutting corners.

Question 9

Will the lights damage my soffit or fascia?

Accepted Answer

No. The track system is designed for non-invasive mounting. It attaches securely to your existing soffit or fascia without causing damage, and can be removed if needed without leaving marks.

Question 10

How long do the LED lights last?

Accepted Answer

Quality LED modules are rated for 50,000–100,000+ hours of use depending on the system. At typical usage of 4–6 hours per day, that translates to 20–30+ years of service life.

Question 11

Can I control the lights from my phone?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Every Eavefy installation includes full smartphone app control. Choose from 16 million+ colors, set schedules, create custom scenes, and even sync to music — all from your iOS or Android device.

Question 12

Do permanent lights hold up in Texas weather?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The systems we install are rated IP65+ for water and dust resistance, handle operating temperatures well above Texas summers, and are built for severe storms. They're designed for the harshest outdoor conditions.

Question 13

Will my HOA approve permanent outdoor lighting?

Accepted Answer

We can provide design renderings and track/installation information for your HOA application. Professional color-matched tracks are nearly invisible during the day, and downward-facing lights prevent light pollution. However, the HOA makes the final approval decision — we cannot guarantee approval.

Question 14

Does Eavefy install the lights directly?

Accepted Answer

Eavefy handles the complete customer experience — design, quoting, and project management. The physical installation is performed by our network of vetted, trained, and certified local partner installers who meet our strict quality standards.

Question 15

What areas does Eavefy serve?

Accepted Answer

Eavefy serves all of Texas, including the DFW metroplex, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and surrounding areas — over 24 cities and growing.

Question 16

Is the design consultation really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes, 100% free with zero obligation. We create a custom photorealistic mockup showing exactly how lights will look on your specific home. If you love it, great. If not, no pressure.

Question 17

Can I use the lights for holidays other than Christmas?

Accepted Answer

Yes! That's the beauty of permanent lighting. Pre-programmed scenes include Christmas, Halloween, 4th of July, Valentine's Day, Easter, and more. You can create custom color combinations for any occasion — game days, birthdays, school colors, you name it.

Question 18

What's the warranty on the lighting system?

Accepted Answer

Warranty terms depend on the specific product installed. Options range from 5-year parts warranties to lifetime product warranties, depending on the system. We'll provide full warranty details — both product and installation workmanship — with your proposal.

Question 19

I need to think about it. Is that okay?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We don't do high-pressure sales. We'll ask what part you're deciding on — the product, spacing, price, or whether you want the project at all — so we can provide the right information to help you decide on your timeline.

Question 20

Can two installations with the same spacing look different?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this is one of the most important things to understand. Fixture output, beam angle, soffit placement, mounting angle, soffit depth, wall material, and architecture all change the finished look. That's why we create a mockup specific to your home instead of showing generic samples.
